The Bulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society - Simon Stevin (BBMS) is a peer-reviewed journal devoted to recent developments in all areas in pure and applied mathematics. It is published as one yearly volume, containing five issues.
The main focus lies on high level original research papers. They should aim to a broader mathematical audience in the sense that a well-written introduction is attractive to mathematicians outside the circle of experts in the subject, bringing motivation, background information, history and philosophy. The content has to be substantial enough: short one-small-result papers will not be taken into account in general, unless there are some particular arguments motivating publication, like an original point of view, a new short proof of a famous result etc.
The BBMS also publishes expository papers that bring the state of the art of a current mainstream topic in mathematics. Here it is even more important that at least a substantial part of the paper is accessible to a broader audience of mathematicians.
The BBMS publishes papers in English, Dutch, French and German. All papers should have an abstract in English.
Authors should prepare their manuscripts in tex, latex or amstex.
Use the link https://ef.msp.org/submit/bbelgianms to submit your paper on the online submission system editflow.
You will be asked to chose the appropriate handling editor (see list below), the MSC classification number (version 2020) and some keywords.
If your paper is accepted, you will be asked to send the tex file.
Authors will receive a pdf file of their paper as it appeared in print.
Authors are requested to keep at least one year between two subsequent submissions.
Submitting a paper to the Bulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society implies that the authors of the paper support the Code of Practice of the European Mathematical Society Ethics Committee; in particular the author(s) make the commitment that they will respect the principles stipulated in the first Section of the Code of Practice, Responsibilities of authors. Violations of these principles, such as (self)-plagiarism, simultaneous submission of the same results to more than one journal, duplicate, overlapping or redundant publication, improper author contribution or attribution, impact factor or citation manipulation and undisclosed conflicts of interest, will lead to immediate rejection as well as possible exclusion for future publications in the Bulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society.
Since January 2003, the Bulletin of the Belgian Mathematical Society -- Simon Stevin is part of an aggregation of electronic journals under the name Project Euclid. This is an initiative of Cornell University Library.
Our contract, however, stipulates that we get a written agreement of the authors of the papers that appear in our bulletin to put their paper online and make it electronically available for the subscribers to Project Euclid. This does neither interfere with the usual printing of the Bulletin, nor does it entail a transfer of copyright.
More information on Project Euclid can be found on the web page http://projecteuclid.org.
The tables of contents and a search engine for the Bulletin are available via the Project Euclid. Full texts of issues older than 5 years are available via the same link. For the more recent ones, only the abstracts are available.
The current issue can be found here. Past issues can be found here.
Each volume of the Bulletin contains four issues of 182 pages and a supplement. The publication dates of these four issues are February 15, May 15, September 15 and November 15. The subscription price for Volume 19 (2012) is EUR 20 for individual members and EUR 125 for institutional members. Subscriptions to the Bulletin and orders for back issues should be addressed to
