Travel directions:
Easiest option: Google Maps knows the search term Campus Middelheim - Gebouw G (here is the direct link) and then ask Google Maps how to get there :-). The BMS PhD Day 2024 takes place in Building G of Campus Middelheim (referred to as M.G on the campus map with M for Middelheim). The official address of Campus Middelheim is "Middelheimlaan 1, 2020 Antwerpen". Otherwise:
1) By train: The train station closest to Campus Middelheim is "Antwerpen-Berchem". From there, it's about 30min by foot to Campus Middelheim or about 15min by bus. From the train station "Antwerpen-Centraal", it's about 50min by foot or 30-40min by public transport.
Google Maps or the app "Slim naar Antwerpen" know best when & where to take which bus/tram. Public transport in Antwerp is provided by the transport company De Lijn (which is not necessarily always on time...). On their webpage, they also describe what kind of tickets exist and how to buy them...
2) By car: The official address of Campus Middelheim is "Middelheimlaan 1, 2020 Antwerpen". Then ask Google Maps or your most favorite GPS how to get there.
Parking directions: Antwerpen has different parking zones. The streets directly next to campus are "2h free parking with parkeerschijf (disque de stationnement)". The Middelheimlaan is between the intersection with the Floralienlaan and the one with the Beukenlaan free parking zone, but usually one has to drive almost to the Beukenlaan for a free slot (= 10min walking back to campus). You may check the precise shape & area of the parking zones HERE. Otherwise, but this is a paying option, there is the underground parking lot of the hospital ZNA Middelheim directly next to our campus.
Remark: Almost everything inside of the highway ring around Antwerp belongs to the so-called "low emission zone" which restricts/forbids certain types of cars to enter the city center. Foreign cars have to register if they want/need to enter the low emission zone. Entering/exiting the low emission zone is surveilled by cameras! Since Campus Middelheim lies outside of the low emmission zone it is possible to get to Campus Middelheim without crossing the low emission zone, but better check in this situation how you have to drive!
